Feminism in the 21st century....

Describe the ideal version of feminism in the 21st century……what could gender equality, family, and status look like in the coming century?

What a loaded question I think today we had a great discussion on the different roles that women are now playing that we longer need to be the one that stays home, that cooks and knits all day.  I have stated before that I am not like the typical person in society I do want to be successful and I would like to provide a nice environment for my future family.  I think the times are changing that women can and will begin to become more important.  I think gender equality is a great change that so many things have come about to help women be just as equal as men.  I love that idea; I love that we as women can and will show the men what we can accomplish.
I really loved the thought that Jonathan Dunkan gave today that if women aren't included we as a society are only playing with a half deck of cards; that is so true women have so much to offer and we can be successful just as the men are and to see the roles switching is a good thing.  For some it may be a little hard to take in though, for example I am in a relationship that is great but when we talk about future things such as how money and kids will work it starts to get a little heated.  Because right now when I get out of school I will have a good job and I will make a lot more money than him and I know that that bothers him he says that it doesn't but I know that it does so we try not to talk about it which I don’t think is a good solution.
But status in the coming century is changing the family is changing it is not uncommon any more for the father to stay home and to care for the kids.  I am not 100% sure I agree with that.  I had a wonderful mother that raised me and that took great care of us and she was always there and I would like for my kids to feel the same things.  I know that we as women are in a since made to care for kids and to nurture them as they grow up.  And there are a lot of people that would disagree with me when I say that.  I also had an experience where I had a roommate that had the theory that women didn’t need men; that when she got married she did not need his last name that she could be the one that brought home the money and she was so adamant about it that it almost made me uncomfortable because I think that takes a lot away from the man and who he is.  I know that men and women need each other and that we can do so well together.  In the coming century we will still see lots of changes happening.
In the coming century things will be different they already are different and for now it may not be a bad thing but we really do not know the full effects yet.  I know we work hard and we gain a lot from our labor but we still need to stop and think about our children and what we can do to help them gain confidence in a crazy world.
